This design explores the corset as a gendered and symbolic garment by merging it with the structure and material language of traditional menswear. Drawing from the classic wool vest, it employs heavyweight wool and checked linen—fabrics historically coded as masculine and intellectual—to reframe the corset beyond notions of femininity and decoration.
The result is a hybrid silhouette that challenges binary readings of dress, questioning how materials shape our perception of identity, power, and elegance. Through this piece, I explore fashion as a tool of both cultural inheritance and subversion.
